Most airport chauffeur services look alike online. A few questions before you book will tell you whether a car will actually be waiting when you land, and what happens if things don't go to plan. Here are the ones we would ask, with our own answers.
Do they track your flight?
They should. A chauffeur who tracks the flight moves the pick-up when you land early or late, so you aren't paying for a delay you couldn't control. Every Privev chauffeur tracks the flight.
How much waiting time is included?
Ask exactly when the free time starts and how long it lasts. With us, the first 60 minutes after your flight lands are free. After that, extra waiting time is charged.
Where will they meet you?
Ask whether the chauffeur meets you inside the terminal or somewhere outside. Ours meets you inside the terminal with a name board and helps with your luggage. Here is how meet and greet works.
Is the car big enough for your luggage?
Count your bags before you book. The Mercedes EQE takes one large suitcase and two carry-ons, the EQS and BMW i7 take two of each, and the Mercedes EQV takes six large suitcases and two carry-ons for up to six people. Our car-by-car guide goes into more detail.
Are they licensed?
Ask whether the company is licensed by Transport for London as a private hire operator, and ask for the licence number. Ours is PHV operator licence 010408.
What are the cancellation terms?
Plans change, so read these before you pay. With us, cancelling more than 24 hours before pick-up is free. Between 12 and 24 hours a 50% charge applies, and with less than 12 hours' notice, or a no-show, the full fare is payable.
Is the car electric?
If emissions matter to you or your company, ask. Every Privev car is fully electric, none hybrid or petrol, and we plant a tree for every ride.
Can they help with the extras?
Think about child seats, a transfer between airports or a pick-up at a private terminal. We supply infant, child and booster seats on request (an extra cost may apply), drive between all the London airports, and meet private flights at Farnborough and Biggin Hill.
